This weekend is the Collection for the Church in Latin America! Many people in Latin America and Caribbean do not have access to church programs and ministries because of rural terrain and a lack of ministers. Your generosity makes it possible for them to share in the life of the Church and grow closer to Christ. Please be generous to this collection! To learn more about the collection, please visit www.usccb.org/latin-america

The sixth grade CCD class invites you to join us on February 3-4 in supporting the Souper Bowl of Caring.  We will be collecting money and non-perishable food items at both entrances to the Church.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!!

A Mid-Winter Retreat weekend for Women and Men will be held February 9-11, 2018.  The theme of the retreat will be “Mysticism – The Heartbeat of God.”  We all have mystical experiences, but we’re not all mystics.  How can we learn how to live a mystically driven life?  We will explore this topic, gleaning some insights from Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI and from the “mystical” gospel of John.

The Retreat will be led by Father Marty Nassr, a senior status priest of the Diocese.  The retreat starts early Friday evening February 9 and ends with a closing late morning Mass on Sunday, February 11.  For more information about this retreat please see Our Lady of Consolation Retreat House web site at www.olcshrine.com and click on RETREAT or call for a brochure.  The cost for the weekend will be $150.00 for overnight guests and $95.00 for commuters, which includes 4 hot meals and your program materials.  Call Brother Randy for info at 419-396-7970 or email at retreats@olcshrine.com

The next Northwest Ohio Men’s Fellowship Breakfast will be held on Saturday Feb. 10th at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance.  Mary and Victor Juarez, founders of “Drugs Awareness for Youth”, a faith based counseling and awareness ministry will share with us.  Mary and Victor have experienced the tragedy of drugs and the effects of the pain and loss in their immediate family.  They are on a God sent mission to share the emotional story of their loss in an effort to expose the consequences of addiction and that everyone is affected by this epidemic.  In this mission they have dedicated themselves to counseling, support groups, and witnessing to youth.  Their message is one of love, understanding, and support, but also of awareness and knowledge of this epidemic in our families, churches, and community.  This is sure to be an insightful sharing that all men and women and especially the youth need to hear.  Invite your family and friends.  This is an ecumenical effort to bring all Faith’s together to share fellowship in Christ’s love.  Coffee / Fellowship: 7:30 am – Program / Breakfast: 8:00 am   For more information contact George Westrick 419-784-3975 or email grwestrick@embarqmail.com
