A letter from Bishop Thomas was sent out asking for your gift and/or pledge to support the ministries of the Diocese of Toledo. This letter gives all registered parishioners an opportunity to contribute to the Appeal, especially those who are unable to attend Mass. The Annual Catholic Appeal will be unbelievably successful if every member of our parish carefully considers their circumstances and truly strives to give a significant gift. Please give prayerful consideration to your level of support to help fund the essential ministries and services supported by the Appeal. To learn more about the appeal visit: www.Toledodiocese.org/ACA

Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports the Church in over 25 countries that are still struggling to recover in the aftermath of communist rule. Funds from this collection support pastoral care, catechesis, building renovations, and seminary formation. Your support restores the Church and builds the future in this region. Please prayerfully consider how you can support the collection next week. More information can be found at www.usccb.org/ccee

Thank you for your generous support last week of the Collection for the Church in Latin America. As a parish, we collected $133.00, which will be used to share the faith with our brothers and sisters in Latin America and the Caribbean so that they in turn can share it with others. If you missed the collection, it's not too late to give! Just visit www.usccb.org/nationalcollections and click "How to Give" on the left. Your gift will certainly make a difference!

“Looking for someone (or “a special person”), to take over and run the Annual Spring Craft Show.

I stepped in temporarily as a chairman and it has now been over 5 years!

My schedule at this time of year has become very busy and I need to look for a replacement.

There is an awesome support team in place to help with the kitchen, bake sale and activities of the day!

I am willing to spend time with anyone who feels the calling to support this great fundraiser for the Altar & Rosary Society.

Please give this your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely, Sandy Wagner

The Most Unjust Situation

Critics of the pro-life movement often say that pro-lifers are too concerned with one social issue. Similarly, political commentators complain that pro-lifers are obsessed with just one political issue.
However, as Catholics, we must never forget three vitally important facts:
(1). All human beings are born "in the image and likeness of Christ" and therefore have innate and invaluable human dignity.
(2). Every child created by God is a tremendous gift from God. Moreover, God has a purpose for each and every one of us...and He does not make mistakes!
(3). The scale of the abortion issue is simply overwhelming. Each day in America, around 3,500 innocent babies are deprived of their right to life.
Pope John Paul II best summed up why abortion is so wrong when he said, "It is difficult to imagine a more unjust situation and it is very difficult to speak of obsession where we are dealing with a fundamental imperative of every good conscience---the defense of the right to life of an innocent and defenseless human being"

We Must Unite Our “House” Divided

Our Popes and Bishops have made it abundantly clear that abortion is "intrinsically evil" and the "preeminent issue" for Catholics. This means that Catholics must assign absolute top priority to oppose this evil: "....the obligation to oppose intrinsically evil acts has special claim on our consciences and our action." Cardinal Justin Regali

This brings to mind James 2:20: “... O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” The Catholic faith is not a social club; therefore we must accept all of her teachings or be complicit in breaking God’s rules. Aren’t we supposed to be “one holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church”?

This is America 2018 when we have many Catholic politicians who see and promote child-killing as "health care."

This is simply inexcusable! We, as faithful Catholics have a duty to replace these so-called leaders who are complicit in maintaining our "culture of death."

The next Northwest Ohio Men’s Fellowship Breakfast will be held on Saturday Feb. 10th at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance.  Mary and Victor Juarez, founders of “Drugs Awareness for Youth”, a faith based counseling and awareness ministry will share with us.  Mary and Victor have experienced the tragedy of drugs and the effects of the pain and loss in their immediate family.  They are on a God sent mission to share the emotional story of their loss in an effort to expose the consequences of addiction and that everyone is affected by this epidemic.  In this mission they have dedicated themselves to counseling, support groups, and witnessing to youth.  Their message is one of love, understanding, and support, but also of awareness and knowledge of this epidemic in our families, churches, and community.  This is sure to be an insightful sharing that all men and women and especially the youth need to hear.  Invite your family and friends.  This is an ecumenical effort to bring all Faith’s together to share fellowship in Christ’s love.  Coffee / Fellowship: 7:30 am – Program / Breakfast: 8:00 am   For more information contact George Westrick 419-784-3975 or email grwestrick@embarqmail.com
