  My Dear Parishioners,

I am patiently waiting to have prostate surgery but

do not know when that will happen. On a moment’s

notice the hospital will call & schedule the surgery.

When that happens, there will be no weekday

Masses. We will try to get a visiting priest for the

   weekends.

Sorry for the uncertain weekday Mass schedule!

Please keep me in your prayers!

Saint Michael’s Parish Center Updates

Another religious education school year is underway and the program continues to thrive.  Currently 70 families are involved in the program which services 126 children.  This number has steadily increased over the past several years.

The participation and dedication from the students and teachers is evident as we watch the preschoolers bounce up when father calls them during Mass for their class, or witness the huge turnout of older youth to prepare and serve the parish breakfast.  One of the many blessings that our parish enjoys is the strong presence and involvement of youth.

While the religious education program remains strong, providing adequate classrooms and facilities has been a challenge.  One class meets in the choir loft, another in the back basement “chicken room”, another in a bedroom of the convent house, etc.  Several of these locations do not have adequate access to restrooms, let alone basic classroom needs.  Our parish is in need of the new building that we voted on several years ago.

Several committees have been hard at work planning for a new facility that will not only service the needs of the youth education program, but also provide a nice area for adult bible study, family gatherings, baby/bridal showers, and various other church activities.  The committees have researched multiple options for the size and location of the new building.  While the opinions of all parish members cannot be satisfied for the size, design, and location of the new building, the committee gathered input, analyzed costs, and presented the most efficient and feasible option for the project.

The fundraising committee has had the hardest task.  It is never easy to ask people for money.  Fortunately, many parish families have responded generously and significant donations and pledges have been secured.  But we have a way to go to meet our goal of $960,000.

For those that have contributed, THANK YOU!  For those that have not yet made a donation or pledge, please prayerfully consider how you could help toward reaching the financial goal.  A fundraising committee member may be reaching out to you to share more detailed information about the project and answer your questions.  Yellow pledge forms are available in both entrances to the church.  Our church website also has drawings and details about the project.

The goal is to secure donations and pledges by the end of 2018 and start construction in the spring of 2019.  Our end goal is to re-energize our parish by developing a space that inspires and provides resources for our youth and parishioners (future parishioners) to grow or re-discover the beauty of our Catholic faith.

Please help make this project a success for our future generations!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION”

Now that classes have started, registration forms for any NEW students to our program need to turned in promptly. The forms can be found on the bulletin board in the entrance to church. Tuition payments for all students are also due at this time. Tuition is $25 per student for up to three in the same family-the fourth child or more is free. The tuition covers the cost of the books and shipping. Unpaid tuition is a great expense to our parish, so please pay promptly.
