Perpetuate The Gift
Support Our Retired Priests: Please consider a donation to Perpetuate The Gift Appeal being held the weekend of October 12-13.  Your gift benefits our retired diocesan priests and your Parish.  Once a priest retires he is responsible for his own personal expenses: medical, housing, car, clothing and food. All funds contributed between October 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 help reduce the amount the parish contributes to the fund.  A gift of cash or check can be sent to Perpetuate The Gift, PO Box 954, Toledo, OH 43697 or placed in the parish collection.  A gift may also be made online at
www.toledodiocese.org.  If you would like to give a gift of stock or designate a bequest to help our retired priests, please contact Rene Schmidbauer at 419-214-4942 or email at rschmidbauer@toledodiocese.org.

 “AROUND OUR PARISH”

1.     Thank you to you all who are praying and supporting the life our parish families!  Your witness brings new life and hope to so many people who seek Christ!

2.     Thank you to all the people who prayed and served the Century Farm Awards and Mass with the farm families and Bishop Thomas this past Thursday at Marysdale.  Thank you to the Hammon and Vandermade families who opened up their farms for tours.

3.     Congratulations to Claudia (Seibert) and Tyler Burkholder who were married this past Saturday on October 12, 2019.  To many years!!

4.     Karen Newton will be working at the St Mike Rectory office on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm.  She was hired on by Fr Bob Kill in April of 2016.  She is helping Fr Jake complete the administrative tasks.  Thank you Karen!

5.     Maintenance: Big Al Steffel put a blanket around the hot water heater in rectory to help cut energy costs. And he is working on sealing under the garage door.  Thank you Big Al!

6.     Maintenance 2: Some of the rectory locks have not been working properly, and Elite Door and Lock of Bryan have done the maintenance on the locks.  New locks and keys have been installed.

7.     Finance Councils of St Isidore and St Michael Parishes have come to memorandum agreement on how shared costs are divided.  More will be shared after the agreement is completed.

8.     St. Mike’s will be having a VBS this summer for children.  Details are still being discerned with Parish Council.

St Michael Parish Center:  We are moving forward with the St. Michael Parish Center so that our young people and families may use the facility for CCD and other parish and family events.  We need to collect a remaining balance $111,000 in order to have the 65% required cash on hand before we can move forward to the get the project rolling with Diocesan guidance, blueprints, and at least 3 or more bids by contractors to build the site.  Thank you to all of you who have donated and are donating to this project.  It is my hope that we can complete the funding as soon as we are able.  I am also aware that finances for households face many challenges today.  God bless you all, Fr Jake

PRAYER CHAIN NETWORK UPDATE

The St. Michael's Rosary and Altar Society ladies are trying to update our Prayer Chain Network list of names. Our current list was last updated in 2014. Since that time many of our parishioners have cancelled their landline phone service and only use cell phones. We need to update this information so that callers can get the messages out to the network members quickly. If you are currently on the network list please sign the sheet at the church entrances with any new information that we need to include on the new list. We need to know your name and the phone number that you would like to be notified at. If you are not a member but would like to be on the network please sign the list marking NEW beside your name and phone number. Our Prayer Chain Network is a wonderful way of supporting our parish family and friends. Thank you for your cooperation.

The St. Vincent De Paul Society of Defiance County seeks, in the spirit of justice, mercy and charity, to provide assistance to those less fortunate.  Volunteers from St Mary’s and St. John’s meet clients once a week to help them avoid eviction from their homes, disconnection of heat, water and electricity, and basic needs of life.  Most of us take these basic needs for granted, but they are a constant concern for many people in our county.  We also inform them about other agencies in Defiance County that offer classes on finances, culture, mental and spirit benefits so that they can gain stability and make a meaningful difference for themselves and their families.  Only thru contributions from individuals and business are we able to continue this ministry to help serve the less fortunate.  Your kind and generous giving is vital to our success in helping others in need.  If you choose to make a financial donation, you can make a check out payable to:  ST VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY and place in the offertory collection any Sunday.  Parish personnel will make sure checks are forwarded to St Vincent DePaul office at the St. Mary Parish Center in Defiance.

Thank you to the many parishioners who have donated to SVDP in the past.  Currently we have volunteers from St. Mary’s and St. John’s meeting with clients.  If you are interested in learning more about this ministry call 419-782-2776
