My dear parishioners:

As you may have heard, my surgery went well

and I am now back home at the Rectory and resting as best I can. Once again I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for all of your prayers and support!

With plenty of rest and no work, my recovery should be a quick one. I will keep you informed of my progress and expected return. As always, please keep me in your prayers as you are in mine!

             May God bless you always!

When we cannot understand why,

Or how this could ever be,

We bow our heads in prayer,

And ask it unto thee,

Grant your strength and grace oh Lord,

The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates National Vocation Awareness Week November 4-10, 2018.  The purpose of this week is to pray that all young people will be open to God’s plan in their lives.

The celebration of National Vocations Awareness Week is a good reminder to continue to pray for an increase in vocations to the ordained ministry and consecrated life in the Diocese of Toledo.  Jesus said: “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest” (Luke 10:2).  We offer prayers this week that God will call many young people in our parishes to labor with the Lord in serving the Church.

Any young man in the Diocese of Toledo who is considering a call to the priesthood can contact their parish priest or Father Philip Smith for guidance and support. Father Smith is the Director of the Office for Diocesan Priestly Vocations and can be reached at: or 419-244-6711 ext. 4945.  The Office for Diocesan Priestly Vocations offers many events throughout the year to help men learn more about the priesthood.

A Prayer For Vocations:

Almighty God, make me an instrument to encourage others to give of themselves and challenge me to do the same. Inspire men and women to respond generously to your call to service and leadership in your church as priests, consecrated religious and deacons.  Amen.

St. Peter Parish in Archbold is pleased to invite you to join us on a pilgrimage to beautiful Italy. We have put together a wonderful opportunity to journey together in faith. Our pilgrimage will take us to Rome, Assisi, Montecassino and Pompeii. In each of these localities we will pray and celebrate the Eucharist as we explore the wonders of amazing Basilicas such as St. Francis and St. Peter. This pilgrimage is designed specifically as a reparation pilgrimage during this time of trial. We must come together as a family of faith and beg the Lord for forgiveness and to offer reparation for the sins committed by priests, bishops and any member of the Church, especially the depraved sins against children and the vulnerable. It is also a time to ask God to heal those who have been wounded by sin, to turn our own hearts away from anything that is evil and to renew our commitment to holiness. Whether you’ve been to Italy three dozen times, or this is your first trip abroad, this pilgrimage is sure to make memories of a lifetime. We promise you that it will also expand your knowledge of the Church and deepen your faith. We hope you’ll join us in journeying through one of the most beautiful countries on earth, and visiting the heart of the Catholic Church - Rome. You can download and print the itinerary on our website  or visit  to register.  If you prefer not to register online you may call Parvis Tours to register by phone: 1-810-644-5229 or send the registration form by mail. If you have any questions reach out to the Group Leader - Marianne Francis, at (419) 405-3229 or  or contact Parvis Tours directly 1-810-644-5229 or  It is our hope that we will all come together when our prayers are needed more than ever.
