My Dear Parishioners:

The Question has been asked:  When will Fr. Gordon be officially helping us out?  Will he be helping “full” time or “part” time?  What about the other priests that have been so kind to help us with Masses these last two months?

Fr. Gordon has already been helping us out with weekday Masses and had 2 Masses on Christmas Eve (taking Fr. Ceranowski’s place at Fr. Al’s request due to distance & the possibility of snow).

The other visiting priests had already been scheduled thru January 1, 2019 (before the Diocese let me know that we will be having Fr. Gordon’s help at St. Michael & St. Isidore parishes).  From now till July 1, 2019, Fr. Gordon will be officially helping in whatever way he is needed.  We are very thankful to Fr. Gordon for agreeing to help me in my time of need.

I still need 37 radiation treatments at Bryan Oncology Center which will begin January 2, 2019 and continue thru February 21, 2019.  I pray that these treatments will take care of any remaining cancer cells.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers.

                  Parish Hall Fund Raising News

St. Michael’s Ridge Church received a very nice Christmas gift from the Knights of Columbus Defiance Council #1093 this past week with a $25,000.00 Donation to the Parish Center Fund raising Campaign.  A sincere Thank You to all the member Knights for their very generous donation to our campaign.

We are currently raising funds for a new 5,500 square foot parish center to house religious education classes for grades 1-12.  Approximately 130 students participate in CCD classes at St. Michael’s each year.  Any and all donations to this campaign are welcome.

Fr. Bob Kill

Fellow Parishioners,

The members of the “Faith in Our Future” fundraising committee, which is currently raising funds for a new parish center to house CCD classes, would like to extend a sincere thank you to the St. Michael’s community. Over the past year over $650,000.00 has been raised in pledges and monetary donations towards the $960,000.00 goal. It is with much faith and determination that we plan to continue these fundraising efforts into 2019.

The goal of this building project is to re-energize our parish by developing a space that inspires and provides resources for our youth and parishioners to grow and re-discover the beauty of our Catholic faith. Please continue to pray and thoughtfully reflect on your family’s ability to join in the fundraising effort. Together, we can make this project a reality and ensure a prosperous future for the current and future generations of St. Michael’s parish.

God bless you and your family and have a blessed Christmas!

News from Holy Cross Catholic School

Holy Cross is in need of strong philanthropic support to achieve our vision of serving a growing student population. As a private school focused on public good, we must increase our support for scholarships, leadership development, classroom enhancements and new programs. The Coressel Foundation has challenged HCCS to raise more money by providing a generous matching gift opportunity. There is still time to make a matching gift donation to Holy Cross Catholic School. When you make an online donation by noon Monday December 31st, the Corressel Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar your gift. You will be helping your parish and your Catholic School to continue to provide one of the best educational opportunities available to PreK - 5th graders in Defiance county. Please visit to make an online gift. Thank you!

Merry Christmas from Holy Cross Catholic School
One of the liberties we have as a Catholic School is to freely share our love for Christ and one another. We LOVE leading and learning through Christ. The Advent and Christmas season are particularly special at HCCS. You can feel the love spilling from the classrooms to the hall, through the cafeteria and car pick-up lines alike and every place in between. HCCS is a rich part of our Catholic Community because of the love and support with which the Catholic Community provides. On behalf of Holy Cross Catholic School’s 134 students, 26 employees, parents and guardians, thank you for your ongoing support. Merry Christmas! May your family be blessed in a special way this season.

*What goals do you have for your child(ren) in 2019?
Anytime is a good time to establish goals and make positive changes in the faith and academic habits of your child(ren) and your family. Holy Cross Catholic School is here to help you enrich the faith journey of your child(ren). If you desire more love and prayer and an individualized education plan for your child(ren), now is the time to explore HCCS. Great Happens at Holy Cross! Children can be enrolled beginning at age 3 through the fifth grade.

*For children currently enrolled in public school: Transferring your student to Catholic School
Students transfer from public school or from homeschool to HCCS every year and are warmly welcomed! If you are considering transferring your child to HCCS, rest assured that the process is easy and our teachers and students LOVE when their classroom family grows! Any time is a great time to join HCCS and Second grade is an exceptional time for students to begin Catholic education, as this is an exciting and important year in their faith development.  Our classrooms are small by design so we have limited space available in most classes for 2019. Seats are filled on a first-come basis and you are encouraged to inquire early to explore the opportunities. Tuition scholarships are available for transferring students.

To schedule a tour, classroom visit or just learn more, please call our school office Monday – Friday, 8AM – 4PM at 419-784-2021.
